Oh Ye of Little Faith

Sometimes, it’s just plain hard to get out of bed.  Can I get an amen?  So how can we stay in faith if what we’re experiencing in our life is so darn tough?  Good question.  Well, I decided to try and figure that out.  And this is what I found:

We think about ourselves A-LOT

Yeah you.  Me too.  Our wants, our hurts, our frustrations.  Sometimes it helps us to get our mind off of ourselves and onto someone we can help.  That’s not to say what your dealing with isn’t serious or seriously hard.  Helping others gives our lives meaning, and we can forget the tough stuff we’re dealing with if only for a few minutes.  There’s a sense of accomplishment when doing something good, and that can feed our faith.

How do I do it?  Pray about it. Ask God to give you someone in your life to help.  He’ll bring someone to you, keep your eyes and ears open and ready.  Chances are there’s already someone in your life you can do something for.

Don’t lose HOPE

I like to remember there are seasons, and the one I’m in will only last for so long.  Hope.  Hope is that word that is never to far away to reach for and grab!  Have some hope that the tough stuff won’t be so bad forever, that each day is going to get better and better.  When you have hope, you have FAITH.

How do I do it?  Remind yourself that God is in the drivers seat, that He has AMAZING plans for you, and that you aren’t alone.  He’s with you, and He’s on your side.  Surround yourself with good, positive people that have your best interest at heart.  Don’t have many?  Most don’t, but if you’re at a serious low number – like none, pray and ask God to bring people into your life that are good for you.  Then, trust He heard you.

Sing your praises

I should have made this the first one.  Man, can it be hard sometimes to praise when you’re life feels like it’s in shambles.  But, if you have hope, and you have faith, then you believe God is working for your good even when it doesn’t look like it.

How do I do it?  It helps me to get in the ‘praise mood’ by listening to Christian music!  Also, list on paper the things that God has done for your in the past.  Thank Him for what He’s doing, believe that He’s doing it, and thank Him for what He has already done for you.  Before you know it, you’re full and thankful, ready for the day.

You might even just smile when you get out of bed. 🙂
